FLYEYE TELESCOPE

EnviroScopY S.R.L. company has signed an agreement related to implementation of the second part of the Neostel programme, known under the name of Neosted.

Italian Compagnia Generale per lo Spazio (CGS) plays the role of the main contractor, acting within the initiative implemented for the European Space Agency within the framework of the SSA (Space Situational Awareness) programme. Neosted is going to become one of the most significant projects pursued within the framework of that strategic programme managed by the European Commission.

NEOSTED Fly-Eye is developed as the European technological answer to mitigate the possible hazard due to Near Earth Asteroids and Space Debris monitoring inside the SSA (Space Situational Awareness) programme of ESA. This optical telescope class 1 meter of primary mirror splits the image into 16 CCD camera of 4k x 4k single chips and 15 μm of pixel size (scale of 1.5 arcsec), in order to expand the field of view as 6.7° x 6.7°.

Up to four Fly-Eye Telescopes will be installed, the first of them on Monte Mufara in Sicily.
